Samsung 9 Series Ultraportable Unveiled

Samsung just unveiled what is their next entry into the ultraportable laptop market. At 13.3-inches and weighing under 3 pounds, we’d say that “ultraportable” is pretty spot on. Of course you can expect Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge Core i5 CPU clocked at 1.4 GHz on the inside, as well as a max of 4G of RAM and a 128 GB SSD. The LED-backlit screen has a resolution of 1366×768, but Samsung claim that it rocks a contrast of 100,000:1 and a viewing angle of 160 degrees, which we can all appreciate — we really loathe bad viewing angles here. A Duralumin body, a backlit keyboard, built-in WiMAX, a 6.5 hour battery life and a thickness of 0.64 inches sweeten the deal. The proof is in the pudding, as is the case with all unreleased products but we’ll have to just see when we get our hands on one. Release date hasn’t been specified just yet (Samsun’s press event is a bit later on), but you can expect a price point of $1,599 when it does come out.
