Lenovo Drops a Few Y and Z Series Laptops

Earlier, Lenovo dropped a few business-centric models but the flood really starts with no few fewer than 18 consumer-facing models. First off is te IdeaPad Y Series — the Y500d, Y470 and the Y570 to be exact. Featuring Lenovo’s RapidBoot technology, the Y Series machines are claimed to boot up 20 seconds faster than any other Windows machine. If you’re even more of a speed freak, you have the option to add a RapidDrive SSD to the Y470 and Y570 to boot up in less than 10 seconds. As with all other new Intel machines, they Y Series come with the new Sandy Bridge CPUs as well as a discrete Nvidia GT 500M graphics card, JBL-designed speakers, and 3D on the Y500d. The Y Series notebooks aren’t slated to hit the market until May (yes, May) starting at $899.
